Settings
The settings tab (see image below) allows a user to review and configure the following:- Firewall
- Pop-up Blocker
- Spyware Monitor
- Anti-Virus
- Component Schedule
- Windows Updates
- Disk Maintenance
- Parental Controls (SecureIT Plus only)

Firewall
With our firewall, a filter monitors the programs and channels of communications and blocks unwanted communications automatically in the background. Just like the rest of our service you can view logs and customize the settings as needed.Main
On the main firewall tab (see image below) you can enable/disable the Firewall.

Firewall Zones
On the “Firewall Zones,” tab (see image below) you will have all IP addresses listed for all network adapters on the machine, their connection types and the zones they are located in.

By default, all network adapters that are detected get placed into the “Internet” zone. If you click on the dropdown menu next to where it states “Change selected adapter to zone,” you will see the following zones: Internet, Trusted, and Blocked. An explanation of these zones are as follows:
• Internet – This is the “unknown” zone. All of the computers and networks in the world belong to this zone until they are moved either through the software or through manual rule creation. In this mode you will still have full access to the Internet, but you will be hidden from the outside world.
• Trusted – This is the “safe” zone. Included in this zone are networks that are trusted and that you want to share resources with (i.e. the other machines on your local or home network). By default, this is the zone that all network adapters will be in after installing the firewall. In this zone, all communication, both inbound and outbound, is allowed and the machine is fully visible to the outside world.
• Blocked – This is a zone where all communication, both inbound and outbound, is blocked and the machine is completely hidden from the outside world.
If you change your firewall zone, you will notice a message that appears in red in the upper right hand corner that states “Settings have changed.” This reminds you that in order for the changes you just made to be saved, you will need to click on the “Save Settings” button before you click on “Close.” This message will appear throughout the firewall settings tab anytime you make a change in the configurations that require you to save the settings.
Traffic Management Control
Today’s Blocked Traffic
You will see two tabs in this panel, (see image below) “Today’s Blocked Traffic” and “Traffic Rules.” Today’s Blocked Traffic will show you the inbound and outbound communication that has been blocked by the firewall. Traffic Rules will show the rules that have been setup to allow or block certain traffic in communicating with your computer.
This Management Control also allows you to "allow the blocked traffic" or "clear the traffic" displayed in the window by clicking on the corresponding button.

As you can also see, the time the traffic was blocked, whether the communication was inbound or outbound, the rules that were used, the IP address the traffic came from, and the port the traffic tried to communicate on, are also displayed.
If you decide that you want a blocked communication to occur, you would click the traffic listed that you want to allow, and then click the “Add to Allowed Traffic” button. Once this happens, a rule is automatically created to allow this traffic. You will see this by clicking on the “Traffic Rules” tab.
Traffic Rules
Another way to allow blocked traffic is to use the predefined rules (see image below) that are included in the firewall. Let’s say that you could not use your AOL Instant Messenger program because the traffic is blocked, but you want to be able to use the application. You would do the following:

1. Click on the "Traffic Rules Tab" (Traffic Management tab)
2. Click on the “Add” button
You would see a screen that looks like the following: (see image below)

You would choose AOL Instant Messenger from the dropdown list. You would then make sure that the “Allow” radial button is selected next to “Define what action would you like to assign.” Since all communication is already allowed outbound from the firewall due to the computer being in the Internet Zone, the only option for “Direction for traffic” is From and will already be selected for you. Next, set the IP range that you want to allow this traffic (by default this will be from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255, which means all traffic will be able to communicate from this medium) and then click “OK”. Care should be taken when changing these settings.
You will see the rule that you created would allow inbound traffic over a TCP connection from any IP address on port 5190. If at anytime you make a typo or need to edit the rule, you can simply click on the “Edit” button, which will open the screen and make your changes. Then click the “OK” button to save those changes. If you then go back and launch your AOL Instant Messenger program, it will now work.
In the cases where you would have a program that is not included in the list of predefined rules you would create a custom rule. You would do this by clicking on the “Add” and “Custom buttons.”
Here you would give the custom rule a name, specify whether the program needs to communicate via a TCP or UDP protocol or both, and what the port range the program needs to communicate in. Once you are finished, you would click the “OK” button. You will now see the custom rule that you just created has been added to the dropdown list and is now highlighted.
You will notice that the “Remove” button is now enabled, giving you the opportunity to delete custom rules if they are no longer needed. This button can only be used to delete customized rules, not the predefined rules.
Once your rules have been created, the arrows in the lower corner of the window are used to change the priority of the rule. The first rule that appears always takes precedence over the other rules, even if the other rules are related. To change the priority, you would simply click the rule that you wanted to move, and then click on either the up or down arrow to move it within the priority list.
Popup Blocker
In this section you will be able to modify Pop-up Blocker Settings. Let’s go through a brief description of each item:
General
On the General tab (see image below) there are several customizable options. Let’s take a look at the Functional Features and their meaning:

• Enable Pop-up Blocker: It is recommended that this service remain enabled but allows the integrated pop-up blocker to be disabled by removing the check.
• Allow CTRL to bypass the pop-up checking: If you find a link on a web page in which you want the pop-up window to come up, you can “bypass” the pop-up blocker by holding the CTRL key down on your keyboard and clicking on the link. This will allow the pop-up to appear.
• Suppress pop-ups generated when loading HTML pages: Many times a web page will load additional web pages when loading. By checking this box these additional pages will be blocked.
• Allow pop-ups generated by JavaScript: Another method used by web pages to display pop-ups is by JavaScript. Checking this setting allows these types of pop-ups from occurring.
• Enable Sound: When a pop-up is blocked, as a default your computer will make a sound (if you have a soundcard and internal/external speakers are present). You can choose the sound it makes by clicking on "Change" and browsing to the location of the sound that you would like to use. If you don't want to hear sound from the pop-up blocker uncheck this box.
White List
Now click on the "White List" tab. (see image below) This is where you would enter specific sites that you do NOT want the pop-up blocker restrict.

For example, say you visit www.secureitdirect.com and the pop-ups that were normally visible when you entered the site are now gone. Go into your Pop-up Blocker Settings and click on "Today’s Blocked Sites."
Today's Blocked Sites
The Blocked Sites screen shows you a list of pop-ups that have been blocked on your computer today. If you wish to "white list" a site that's been blocked just highlight the entry and click the "Add To White List" button under the window. Click Save Settings and Close. In some cases for the changes to take effect, you may have to close out of your browser and re-open it. (see image below)

In cases where you want to ensure that pop-ups appear within the web pages of sites you are looking at, you can use wildcards in your entry.
For example, if you want pop-ups to show up on any sites that end in pclive.com, you would put the wildcard in from of the entry and type http://*.secureitdirect.com and then click "Add To White List."
Spyware Monitor
You can enable/disable the realtime Spyware Monitor (see image below) by checking/unchecking the Enable SecureIT Spyware Monitor option. Note: The SCMonitorService will continue to run as it is a core component of the SecureIT software."Enable Online Malware Protection" is also an option available to you. The Online Malware Protection consists of a list of known sites that contain malicious elements. The Spyware Monitor will prompt you when one of these sites are attempting to load. You can override it if you want.

Quarantine
Whenever the SecureIT Spyware Monitor quarantines a piece of spyware, it will show up in the Quarantine Items list. From here you may permanently
delete a piece of spyware, or in the case of false positives (items the monitor thinks is spyware but it isn't) you may restore the quarantined item to its original location. You can refresh the contents of the quarantine list by clicking on the green arrows.

White List
If you wish to go to a site that is being blocked by our Online Malware Protection, you can add that site to the White List.

Blocked Sites
If the Online Malware Protection does indeed stop you from accessing a malicious site, it will be listed in the Blocked Sites portion of these settings. You can move an item to the White List or permanently remove the item.

AntiVirus
The realtime anti-virus scanner can be enabled/disabled by checking/unchecking the Enable SecureIT Anti-Virus option. (see image below)You can change the behavior of the SecureIT anti-virus engine regarding what actions to take if it detects a virus.
Only report infected files: When this option is selected, SecureIT will only report that it found a virus and will not remove or quarantine it.
Quarantine infected files: When this option is selected, SecureIT will automatically move infected files into the virus quarantine, disabling the virus.
Automatically remove and delete infected files: When this option is selected, SecureIT will automatically delete any infected files it detects without prompt and without moving it to quarantine.

Scan Filters
Here you can add any extensions that you wish to exclude from future anti-virus scans. Simply add the extension you wish to exclude and click “Add” button. You may remove any custom entries by clicking the entry and then clicking “Remove Selected Extension”. (see image below)

Perform Scan
Here you can manually start an antivirus scan, and specify what area of the computer to scan. There are three options: (see image below)
Scan All Files: This option will scan all files on the hard drive.
Scan Memory Only: This option will only scan for viruses that are currently running in memory.
Scan Selected Folders: This option allows you to specify a particular folder you would like to scan for viruses.

Quarantine
If the SecureIT anti-virus is set to quarantine detected viruses, they will appear in this list. From here you can permanently delete the infected file, or restore it to its original location. You can refresh the contents of the list by clicking on the green arrows in the bottom right corner of the display window. You can also restore items in the quarantine list, either by choosing to restore a single item or clicking to restore all items in the quarantine list. (see image below)

Component Schedule
Here you can set the times and days of the week that you want SecureIT to scan for updates. It is best to set the schedule for a time when you are away from the computer (i.e. early morning). If you are not sure, these fields can be left on the default settings. The images below display each tab and the settings that can be set. (see images below)SecureIT Update
